Psalm 91

Thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. Psalm 3:3

The Shadow of the Almighty

In the heat of the battle I come to You, O Lord
for there is protection with the Almighty
to them that are in close communion with God

I'll flee to You to hide from the enemy's sword
You, O Lord, are my shield and my stronghold
You are my God, in Whom I trust

He will surely set me free from the trap
and the destructive plague of the wicked
He will hide me, so I cannot be found

He will clothe me with His own covering
standing by me as a hen guards her chicks
God's Word is my powerful armor

I shall not be afraid for the horror of darkness
nor the visible attacks of the enemy
Subtle desolation and destruction I shall not fear

Many faint and scores will collapse beside me
But the Lord will keep all distance away from me
I'll only see what becomes of the wicked ones

There shall be no evil overwhelming me
nor any affliction come close to my inhabitant
God, the Most High is my shelter and abode

His angels are sent to guard and keep me safe
They'll carry me, I won't stumble and fall
By God's power I'll overcome evil encounters

He showers me with His love, since I've known Him
He has delivered me in troubling times
He has lifted me up, when I knew no hope

The Lord will respond to my every need
He will undergird me when I am weak
He will reach out when I need His help

The Lord will honor me as His own
and show me His salvation
I'll rejoice in Him all the days of my life

My interpretation of Psalm 91.

The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise Him. Psalm 28:7

Great and Awesome is the ALMIGHTY GOD of my salvation!
